Playable Character

Detective _____ was born with a condition that makes human figures and voices entirely indistinguishable. In turn, the Detective was rewarded with the power to exist beyond the absolute truth that is the flow of time, with the ability to stop, fast forward, and rewind time for an object or person.

Narrative

Under the watchful eye of an expansive eternal night sky and the gentle embrace of perpetual rain, ____ City stands in serenity, yet afflicted with uncertainty brought about by a series of unexplained disappearances. There is only one person capable of solving this seemingly supernatural series of occurrences plaguing this bizarre city and its enigmatic residents.

Mechanics

As you explore this city's streets, you will see several items, characters, and buildings that you can inspect. Upon inspecting them, you have the option to take them outside the flow of time which stops time, and gives you the ability to view their prior actions and the future actions they are going to take in isolation. You must connect all of these individual pasts and futures, in order to piece together this case.

Showcase/Exhibition Features

This game is going to be a showcase piece, featuring several additional set pieces to accentuate the experience of play. First of all, the manipulation of time will be carried out using an alternative controller taking the shape of a Pocket Watch, built with an Arduino and buttons. The exhibition version of the game will also feature a locked notebook that players can open via clues within the game, a pen to write down clues and findings within said notebook, and a map of the entire city physically in front of them.

Build Details

The build below is solely a proof of atmosphere and concept for the game. All you can do is move, and manipulate time. You are restricted to forwards movement that you do with the left mouse button, and for time manipulation, press J to stop time, and during stopped time you can hold K to rewind or hold L to fast forward.
